Job Description

Argonne National Laboratory invites applications for engineer positions in computational science and software development for applying high performance computing techniques and artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning/deep learning (ML/DL) methods to challenges in biomedicine.

Selected candidates will work with Argonne scientists on developing methods to analyze sequencing data, develop AI for science on leading-edge AI hardware and software. Candidates will be expected to use the advanced supercomputing facilities at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), including the upcoming Aurora exascale system, other GPU-based systems.

Position Requirements

  • Experience in programming with one or more programming languages, such as C, C++, or Python (preferable)
  • Experience with machine learning methods and deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Experience in using and developing high performance computing frameworks and libraries
  • Experience with GPU programming in the machine learning context is valuable
  • Knowledge of modern software development practices and techniques
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to model Argonne’s Core Values: Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork
  • RD2: Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience, or equivalent
