Summary

The Ambulatory Operations Nurse works in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals in the diagnostic team to provide proficient, compassionate patient-centered care in an ambulatory setting. Systematically and continuously utilizes strategies for meeting patient needs across our multi-modality department. Utilizes skills to plan, implement and deliver patient care in a safe and effective manner.

Job Duties

  • Instructs patients concerning the preparations needed for tests. 
  • Communicates with providers and other health care professionals regarding orders and care of patients.
  • Executes physician orders and administers medication and treatment for patients.
  • Documents patient care services by charting in patient’s electronic medical records. 
  • Assists with patient treatment and procedures. 
  • Ensures efficient operation of clinic by planning use of supplies/ equipment. 
  • Provides professional nursing assessment to patients. 
  • Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality and safe patient care and a 
  • positive patient experience. 
  • Adheres to the scope of practice as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act. 
  • Provides telephone triage to patients and ensures patients receive the appropriate level of care.
  • Counsels patients and family members reinforcing their understanding of post testing self-care skills.   
  • Participates in orientation of new clinical staff. 
  • Respects and supports patient rights and promotes positive patient relations.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work sot that assignments are completed in an efficient and timely manner. 
  • Maintains clean and safe work environment; stocks and orders supplies, as needed. 
  • Identifies specific patient needs as they relate to diagnostic testing. Conveying findings to pertinent team member and/or provider.  
  • Maintains a professional and cooperative relationship among team members by communicating information, responding to requests, and building rapport by participating in in team problem solving methods. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
  • Two years of experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Degrees in lieu of experience will not be accepted.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
