Job Description

Analyzes patient care information in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for CCHS. Works collaboratively with ITD to resolve identified problems and facilitate corrections to the EHR (Epic Care). Provides end-user training and develops documentation in HIM Section. Assists with EHR compliance with Joint Commission and all levels of regulatory guidelines. Makes recommendations in regard to risk to the hospital, impact on patient care and safety, and physician/patient satisfaction. Performs tasks relative to scanning, disclosure management, forms and transcription.

This is a part-time local remote opportunity in our Health Information Management department. There may be occasions you are required to be on-site, so only residents of Northeast Ohio will be considered.


  • Serves as the initial point of contact for EHR corrections for Providers and Administrators.
  • Issues final approval to any deletion and/or corrections to EHR.
  • Coordinates resolution of patient amendment requests and is responsible for required correspondence according to HIPAA/CCHS policy investigation.
  • Maintains accurate records of all contacts made and the result of inquiries.
  • Develops end-user documentation and training procedures.
  • Provides implementation and project management assistance through all phases.
  • Investigates changes with the EHR that may impact patient care and safety and physician/patient satisfaction.
  • Makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate records of all contacts made and results of inquiries.
  • Provides reliable tracking mechanics for changes to the EHR.
  • Prepares statistical reports pertaining to the EHR for Administrative committees.
  • As EHR content expert, performs regular random quality audits according to established quality plan.
  • Makes recommendations to create, improve and revise policies and procedures to ensure EHR compliance with federal, state, local, Joint Commission and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Performs tasks relative to scanning, disclosure management, forms and transcription.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management preferred.


  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.

Work Experience:

  • Two years HIM EHR experience with computer systems.
  • Associate's Degree in HIM or Bachelor's Degree in related healthcare field may offset the required experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires normal or corrected vision and hearing and the ability to verbally communicate with employees and patients in person and on the telephone.
  • Physical demands include office work and the mobility sufficient to attend meetings.
  • The work environment is at a moderate noise level(business office with phones, copiers, computers, and printers).
