Job DescriptionJob Summary
The University of Southern Indiana’s Information Technology department is seeking an Audio Visual Technician I to provide technical and production assistance for Information Technology including installation, set-up, and updating of audiovisual equipment and systems and provide emergency technical response to media technology users, including special events, with an emphasis on problem solving and exceptional customer service.
Install, maintain, and modify audiovisual equipment including video recorders, cameras, audio recorders, microphones, mixers, additional sound system equipment, and video projectors. Troubleshoot associated AV signal paths in academic classrooms and other campus spaces.
Install and update various A/V related software packages in classrooms.
Provide emergency classroom and event response and troubleshooting, as well as user instruction and training.
Manage, log, and track support requests and service-inquiry calls from University faculty, staff, and students using KACE.
Assist the AV Systems Administrators as needed in all facets of academic spaces instructional technology design, implementation and troubleshooting.
Work closely with and sharing of information and knowledge with the AV Systems Administrators in solving overlapping problems and providing academic classroom support.
Communicate to AV Operations & Production Manager inventory supplies needed to maintain and expand classroom and digital signage needs, including, but not limited to, spare projection bulbs, video splitters and extractors, cables and connectors.
Other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
Associate degree in electronics or technical school equivalent in electronics technology preferred; OR junior standing or higher toward a Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or related area; OR comparable AV related work experience; WITH demonstrated knowledge of PC or AV support skills.
Knowledge of simple audio and video signal paths and associated connectors, cables and related PC software functions.
Microsoft Office (Teams) and Zoom meeting software experience preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills required.
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills required.
Excellent customer service skills required. Communication and interpersonal skills must be appropriate to working with a diverse group of internal and external individuals.
