Job Description

Job Purpose

This position serves the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center (DLDCCC) in pre-award, post- award and clinical research financial management. The position will report directly to the Manager of Clinical Research Finance, and will focus on pre-award proposal submissions, coverage analysis, clinical trial budget development/negotiation, and post award activities as needed.

Job Duties

Creates coverage analysis and full internal budget for every study. Must be able to review a study protocol and translate the intensity of work to develop appropriate budget.

Identifies and communicates funding gaps to management.

Coordinates with study teams and appropriate ancillary/support units to obtain pricing for study budgets.

Maintains knowledge of all the relevant billing rules and guidance.

Conducts budget negotiations with industry sponsors, grantors and other funding sources.

Assists with preparing and maintaining standardized research service pricing with affiliated hospitals and clinics. Updates pricing lists as needed.

Participates in budget and billing configurations in commercial CTMS, and utilizes CTMS functionality for financial management.

Serves as a mentor and assists with training junior level CTSU Finance Team members.

Participates in internal or external audits that pertain to clinical research finance.

Assists with ongoing quality improvement for clinical research financial management.

Under the guidance of the Manager of Clinical Research Finance, may assist with writing financial SOPs.

Prepares financial reports, as needed.

Attends continuing education and training opportunities relevant to job duties.

 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree.
  • Required: Four years of relevant experience.
