The Basic Science Research Group in the Department of Dermatology at Columbia University is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral research scientist with computational or bioinformatics expertise to join our developing data analysis core. The core group is responsible for bridging rigorous bioinformatic analysis and clinical/translational research through active collaborations with non-computational researchers across several biological disciplines. The Fellow will work with members of the core to conduct all needed computational analysis, as well as provide consultation to researchers on the proper design and interpretation of bioinformatic studies. Numerous opportunities will be available to help design and conduct research involving translational medicine and clinical trials, as well as the opportunity to develop novel informatics platforms with a team of systems biologists at Columbia University. As such, this candidate must be comfortable interacting with diverse clinical/basic science teams and communicating with non-specialists on a regular basis.
The candidate will be responsible handling bioinformatic analyses for research teams, focused primarily on single-cell and whole tissue high-throughput sequencing (HTS) data platforms. Candidates with prior experience in bioinformatics (transcriptomics and genomics), systems biology, machine learning, or HTS data structure/analysis will be considered highly competitive. Candidates at minimum should have at least some experience with standard bioinformatic analysis (differential expression, basic classification, genomics, data visualization, etc), statistics, and/or programming experience (R, perl, java, python, etc).
Prospective applicants should have a Ph.D. an equivalent degree and/or experience in bioinformatics, computer science is required.
