Job DescriptionA postdoctoral fellow position is available in the lab of Dr. Kwong Kwok Wong at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, located within the Texas Medical Center (TMC). Our research is focused on elucidating the molecular pathogenesis of ovarian cancer with a translational goal to identify potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for precision medicine.
The major interests in the lab are: (1) to decipher the resistance mechanisms of low-grade ovarian serous carcinoma to MEK inhibitors; (2) to determine how steroid hormones impact the development of ovarian cancer; (3) to translate these discoveries into potential new therapies. Projects rely upon biochemistry, cell culture studies, high-throughput genomics, bioinformatics, and in vivo functional analyses in genetically engineered gynecologic cancer mouse models.
Houston is the home of the largest medical center (TMC) in the world. TMC has a strong scientific community that includes multiple institutions such as Baylor College of Medicine, Methodist Research Institute, Texas A&M IBT, the University of Houston and the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Houston, being the fourth largest city in the United States, is characterized by its low cost of living in comparison to other major metropolitan areas.
Qualifications: Interested applicants should be highly motivated and have a Ph.D. degree with a strong background in molecular biology/immunology and mouse studies. Prior publication in internationally recognized journals is required and candidates should be fluent in spoken and written English.
