Job Description

We study the molecular mechanisms underlying neural circuit development, sensitive period plasticity and vocal learning in songbirds. Songbirds with their well studied song behavior and well characterized song control circuit provide a unique model for studying molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying speech and language development and related neural developmental disorders such as autisms. We employ a multidisciplinary approach to investigate gene and epigenetic regulation, neurogenesis, dendritic and synaptic development, and vocal learning behavior (Shi et al., eLife 2018).

We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated individual with a recent PhD in molecular neuroscience or related fields to join our team. Broad experiences in molecular cloning, gene regulation, Western blot, immunostaining, viral work, and animal behavior are especially desirable.
