Job Description

The Department of Chemistry at Columbia University is looking to fill the position of Associate Research Scientist. The successful candidate will have extensive experience using molecular genetics and genomics tools to engineer various yeast species. In addition, the successful candidate will have expertise in synthetic biology, organism design, protein engineering, and eukaryotic signaling and assay development. Finally, the successful candidate will have prior experience in the management of interdisciplinary research teams, and interaction and reporting to a diverse set of government agencies. Responsibilities will include designing and implementing yeast strains with new functions, supervising and training students as well as scientific management of several government-funded projects.

Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology or Bioengineering, minimum of 5 years of Research Experience in different research fields including Molecular Biology and Chemistry.

Expertise in CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering, molecular cloning, biochemistry, yeast genetics and experience in team management preferred.
