Job Description

Postdoctoral research opportunities are available in the area of biomedical optics and optical instrumentation at the Massachusetts General Hospital in the Wellman Center for Photomedicine. MGH’s role as a leading teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School and close ties to Harvard University and MIT provide an outstanding environment for the development of cutting edge technologies and their application in basic and clinical research. Candidates with strong backgrounds in Engineering, Optics, Physics and other relevant disciplines are sought to join leading efforts in the development and application of new optical technologies such as next-generation Laser Speckle Rheology, Optical Coherence Tomography, In Vitro Blood Diagnostic instruments and miniature endoscopic imaging probes. The fellowship will focus on the development and clinical translation of optical imaging and diagnostic tools for medical and research applications in Hematology, Cardiology and Cancer Research.

Requirements:
PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field is required. Demonstrated excellence in one or more of the following areas is required: Optics and photonics, optical system design and fabrication, dynamic light scattering systems and clinical translation of novel optical devices. Advanced programming skills in Matlab, LabView and C++ are required. The candidate should have excellent English speaking and writing skills and a strong publication record. Creativity is highly desirable. Positions are available in the laboratories of Wellman Center faculty member, Dr. Seemantini Nadkarni.
