Job Description

The department of Molecular and Cellular Biology is seeking an individual with a Ph.D. and/or postdoctoral training in eukaryotic cellular signaling to join a biocuration and web development group building a pan-omics knowledgebase for eukaryotic cell signaling and human disease. Although experience in processing and analysis of ‘omics scale datasets is an advantage, an appreciation of the fine details of experimental design, and the ability to communicate these, are the most important aspects of these positions. Responsibilities will include biocuration and processing of archived ‘omics datasets; liaising with investigators to secure ‘omics datasets for deposition in public archives; liaising with staff in partner databases and publishers, including Public Library of Science and Elsevier; and participation in the design and testing of tools and features in our web user interface. These positions represent ideal opportunities for individuals wishing to developer a career path away from the bench in the emerging area of biomedical data science.

Annotation and curation of biomedical datasets.
Annotates and curates biomedical datasets.
Critically reads articles to collect metadata.
Liaises with article authors to deposits raw datasets in public repositories.
Liaises with biocurators in collaborating biomedical databases and knowledge mines.
Participates in the development, testing and training of data curation and analysis user interfaces.
Contributes to reports and manuscripts describing group activities.
Required: Ph.D. in eukaryotic cell signaling or cell biology.
